What Kind and How Much Insurance Should You Get?
If you are financing your auto - new or used - you will also be required to get Full Coverage.
If you are not financing your vehicle you can get any type of coverage you want. All states have minimum requirements.
Used Car -
- If your car is costing you over $6000 and is actually worth that much - you may want to consider Full Coverage.
- If your vehicle is between $2000 and $6000 you may consider getting the state minimums plus Comprehensive - which in most states covers your car if it is stolen. Also ask about their glass and windshield coverage.
- If your car is less than $2000 then you may just want the state minimum.
In most cases if you are financing you will be required to get Full Coverage. But if it is not required you get Full Coverage, you can opt for less coverage. You want to get sufficient Bodily Injury and Property damage coverage's as well as protecting if your car if it were stolen, vandalized or you have any glass breakage.
